Trapezaki beach in the late-afternoon light, calm water and open sea.

The island around you

Explore Kefalonia

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian islands and one of the least hurried. From the villa gate, the island unfolds in day-trip-sized pieces: a swim in the morning, a mountain village for lunch, a glass of Robola before the drive home. These are the places we send our guests first.

Aerial view of the estate on the green hillside above Trapezaki, looking out over the Ionian Sea.

Where we are

Trapezaki, Kefalonia, Greece

The villas sit on the green hillside above Trapezaki, on Kefalonia's quiet southern coast, with the sea a few minutes down the hill in every direction, from Trapezaki's own small beach to the long sandy bay at Lourdas.

Where to go

Myrtos beach

The photograph that sells the island: white pebbles, impossibly blue water, cliffs on both sides. Go late afternoon when the light softens and the crowds thin.

~55′

Melissani cave lake

A lake inside a collapsed cave, lit from above at midday. The boatmen row you across water so clear the boat seems to float on air.

~45′

Assos village

A handful of pastel houses on a neck of land under a Venetian fortress. Best combined with Myrtos; stay for dinner by the water.

~70′

Fiskardo harbour

The island's polished corner: Venetian houses that survived the 1953 earthquake, yachts, long lunches. Worth the drive north once.

~80′

Robola vineyards

Kefalonia's own white grape, grown high on limestone. The co-operative winery and small producers around Omala pour tastings. Our bar serves it cold, but the source is better.

~30′

Lourdas bay

The long sandy bay below the villas' side of the island: tavernas on the sand, calm water, ten minutes away. Our everyday beach.

~10′

Trapezaki beach

Small, quiet, five minutes down the hill: a strip of sand, one beach bar, sunsets over open sea. The closest swim to your villa.

~5′

Ainos mountain

A national park of black fir at 1,600 m: wild horses, walking trails, and on clear days a view across to Zakynthos and the Peloponnese.

~40′

Pessada port, departure point for the Zakynthos ferry.
